The present study was undertaken to evaluate several neuropharmacological activities of the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Pithecellobium dulce Benth (Leguminosae) leaves in swiss albino mice. A crude extracts were given orally and its effects were tested on spontaneous motor activity, motor coordination, sodium pentobarbital-induced hypnosis and pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced convulsions. The leaves of plant were extracted with water and ethanol by maceration and soxhelation respectively. Preliminary phytochemical screening of both extracts was carried out to determine the nature of phytoconstituents present in it. Acute toxicity studies of the both extracts were performed using mice and dose of 200 mg/kg was selected for further studies. Results from experimental models showed prominent decrease in locomotor activity and motor coordination for both extracts. In sodium pentobarbital-induced hypnosis both extracts exhibited significant hypnotic effect. Results of anticonvulsant activity testing by PTZ method revealed that aqueous and ethanolic extract of Pithecellobium dulce could not decreased the convulsions as well as mortality in mice. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that an acutely administered single dose of an aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Pithecellobium dulce leaves possess skeletal muscle relaxation activity and can exert depressant effects on the CNS but no anticonvulsant action.Keywords

The study deals with the groundwater quality of Gadhinglaj tehsil in Maharashtra. The groundwater quality was assessed by examining various physico-chemical parameters. The borewell water samples were collected from 40 villages from Gadhinglaj tehsil during winter season. The physico-chemical parameters like temperature, pH, EC, free CO2, total alkalinity, total hardness, Ca and Mg hardness, chlorides and dissolved oxygen were analysed. The result were compared with WHO and BIS standards. Except for a few parameters at some places, most of the water samples were found to be suitable for drinking.Keywords

Lamivudine (LMV), Zidovudine (ZDV) and Nevirapine (NVR) are used in combination for treatment of HIV I. The present work deals with method development for simultaneous estimation of these drugs in tablet dosage form by UV spectrophotometry. A new simple, accurate and sensitive method for simultaneous estimation of lamivudine, zidovudine and nevirapine from tablet formulation has been developed. The method employs combination of zero order and first order derivative spectroscopy. Estimation of nevirapine was done in zero order derivative mode at 310 nm where zidovudine and lamivudine do not show any interference. Estimation of zidovudine was done in first order derivative mode at 270 nm where lamivudine and nevirapine shows zero crossing points. Estimation of lamivudine is done in zero order derivative mode at 271 nm by correcting the absorbance interferences due to zidovudine and nevirapine. Absorbance interferences of zidovudine and nevirapine calculated from their absorptivities. The results of analysis validated statistically and recovery studies showed satisfactory results. Thus the method is accurate and reproducible and can be employed for routine analysis of these drugs from tablet dosage forms.Keywords

Atorvastatin Calcium and Ramipril are used in combination for treatment of hypertension. The present work deals with simple spectrophotometric method development for simultaneous estimation of Atorvastatin Calcium (ATR) and Ramipril (RAM) in two component capsule formulation. The method employed first order derivative spectroscopy. For determination of sampling wavelength 10 μg/ml of each of ATR and RAM were scanned in 200-350 nm range and sampling wavelengths were 294 nm for ATR were RAM showed zero crossing point and 229 nm for RAM were ATR showed zero crossing point in first order derivative spectroscopy. For this method linearity observed in 5-40 μg/ml for ATR and 2-20 μg/ml for RAM. The recovery studies confirmed accuracy of proposed method and low values of standard deviation confirmed precision of method. The method is validated as per ICH guidelines.Keywords

The present research work was undertaken to develop the technology for development and quality evaluation of unriped mango and Aloe vera RTS beverage prepared from unriped mango juice and Aloe vera juice and to study the changes in chemical composition and sensory qualities of the RTS with different proportions of juice of unriped mango and Aloe vera held at the department of Agricultural Process Engineering, K.K Wagh College of Agriculture Engineering and Technology. Different treatments were used for the study using different proportion of juice of unriped mango and Aloe vera namely T1, T2 and T3. On the basis of sensory score and physio-chemical composition we found that treatment T3 (60:40) was found best.Keywords
